Induction for Professional Tutors

"Strong and collaborative partnership working leads to outstanding outcomes." (Somerset SCITT ITE inspection report; October 2017; p4

Outline

A fully funded session for Professional Tutors (PTs) and Class Teachers in Primary Schools, who take Somerset SCITT trainees for their school experience placements during the academic year 2018-2019.

This session is for new and existing PTs, Class Teachers and those who would like to update their knowledge of having a SCITT trainee within the school.

Description

"The training is strongly enhanced by the involvement of experienced practitioners from the partnership schools who share their day-to-day classroom skills with the trainees. This supports trainees exceptionally well in their development of knowledge as educators and their growth into confident professionals."

The training will enable professional tutors, class teachers and others to:

  • Empower trainees;
  • Act as a critical friend;
